Mercedes-AMG unveiled the GT2 Pro, a track-only model based on the original GT2, but without the restrictions of homologation rules. Here's a closer look at this high-performance machine:
Under the Hood
Powering the GT2 Pro is a 4.0-liter V8 engine, twin-turbocharged to produce 707 horsepower. However, a feature called Push2Pass temporarily increases this number to an impressive 750 horsepower. The engine sends its power to the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential transaxle with modified gear ratios compared to the standard GT2. The carbon fiber torque tube remains, and the car features four-way-adjustable shock absorbers on both axles.
Race-Ready Safety
The GT2 Pro doesn't skimp on safety features. It boasts a carbon safety cell attached to the chassis, a five-point harness, safety nets, a fire extinguisher, and a roof panel hatch to ensure driver safety on the track.
Exterior Enhancements
Visually, the GT2 Pro stands out with flat gray paint, a bright finish on exterior carbon fiber trim pieces, new endplates on its massive rear wing, and two-tone 18-inch wheels.
Interior Features
Inside the GT2 Pro, drivers will find a "Push2Pass" button on the steering wheel and a specific center console. AMG offers optional extras like a passenger safety cell, a cooling system, a spare parts package, and more.
Pricing and Extras
The Mercedes-AMG GT2 Pro is currently on sale with a base price of €479,000 (approximately $512,300, excluding taxes and fees). Buyers also receive a car cover, a Puma racing apparel kit with a racing suit, gloves, competition underwear, and shoes, and an individualized Bell helmet to match their GT2 Pro.
The GT2 Pro offers extreme performance for track enthusiasts who want to experience the ultimate in Mercedes-AMG's racing capabilities.
