2024 Lexus RC - Minor Revisions and New Colors
The 2024 Lexus RC is hitting the scene with a series of minor updates, mainly focusing on exterior colors and wheel options. While the changes might not be groundbreaking, they offer buyers a bit more variety in customizing their RC coupe.
New Exterior Colors and Color Restriction
Lexus has refreshed the RC's exterior color palette for 2024. Notably, the Grecian Water color option has been removed, making way for the introduction of Cloudburst Gray. However, the availability of certain colors is now somewhat restricted. Depending on the specific trim and configuration, some color choices are exclusive to certain variants. For example, if you're eyeing the RC 300 RWD or RC 350 RWD and have your heart set on Atomic Silver, Flare Yellow, Ultra White, or Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0, you'll need to explore other trim options.
Enhancements to F Sport Trims
F Sport trims receive a noteworthy update in the form of a 19-inch, 10-spoke Enkei wheel with a dark gray metallic finish, offered as a no-cost option. This enhancement adds a sportier flair to the vehicle and further enhances the F Sport's distinctive appearance.
Changes to the RC F Track Edition
The flagship RC F Track Edition sees alterations to its available colors. While the 2023 version was exclusively offered in the Incognito color, the 2024 model expands the choices to include Caviar, Cloudburst Gray, or Ultra White. Regrettably, the unique Incognito color option is no longer available for this model. The 2024 model year is expected to be the last for the RC F Track Edition, so enthusiasts should consider securing one before it's too late.
Pricing Updates: A Modest $100 Increase
Lexus has implemented a modest price adjustment for the 2024 RC lineup, with a consistent $100 increase across all trim levels. The Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Prices (MSRPs), which include the $1,095 destination fee, are as follows:
- RC 300: $45,920
- RC 300 F SPORT: $50,540
- RC 300 AWD: $48,610
- RC 300 AWD F SPORT: $52,830
- RC 350: $48,850
- RC 350 F SPORT: $53,470
- RC 350 AWD: $51,015
- RC 350 AWD F SPORT: $55,195
- RC F: $68,295
- RC F Track Edition: $101,170
Engine Lineup: A Mix of Powerplants
The RC 300 RWD features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 241 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The AWD version is equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine, generating 260 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The RC 350, regardless of drivetrain, employs the V6 engine tuned to deliver 311 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. The RC F houses a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine that cranks out an impressive 472 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
A Coupe That's Made Its Mark in Motorsport
Despite its relatively modest presence on the road, the Lexus RC has made its mark in motorsport. Lexus, through Vasser Sullivan Racing, secured a victory in this year's IMSA GTD Pro class in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The RC's capabilities shone through as it bested renowned competitors, including AMG, Aston Martin, Chevrolet, and Porsche, showcasing the coupe's performance potential on the racetrack.
While the Lexus RC may not be a common sight on the streets, its track achievements underline its performance credentials and potential in the right hands.
