2024 BMW X2: Sport, Roomier, With Fresh Design & Performance
A Bolder BMW X2 for 2024

The 2024 BMW X2 has undergone a remarkable transformation, distinguishing itself from its X1 sibling with a new design that's sportier and more spacious. The fastback roofline catapults the X2 into the crossover-coupe category, akin to the X4 and X6. With added dimensions, the X2 boasts a longer body, wider stance, increased height, and extended wheelbase compared to its predecessor and the new X1.

Two Flavorful Variants

The 2024 X2 comes in two distinct flavors: the xDrive28i and the sportier M235i xDrive. The xDrive28i features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine generating 241 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, propelling it from 0 to 60 mph in a swift 6.2 seconds. On the other hand, the M235i xDrive boasts 309 horsepower, retains 295 lb-ft of torque, and shaves a second off its 0-60 mph time. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with a built-in limited-slip differential distributes power to all four wheels. The M235i comes with shift paddles, while they're optional on the xDrive28i.

Aesthetic Appeal and Aggressive Stance

The 2024 X2 adopts a design that echoes the X4 and X6, featuring a flat front with a wide grille outlined by an illuminated contour and standard LED headlights with distinctive DRLs that also act as turn signals. The profile is clean, with flush door handles nestled between sculpted wheel arches and stylish wheels, ranging from standard 19 and 20 inches to optional 21-inch rims. In the rear, the chevron-shaped taillight elements complement the front DRLs. The rear spoiler and the black lower bumper with quad exhaust pipes give it an unmistakable identity.

Spacious Interior and Modern Technology

The increased dimensions offer more room for passengers and cargo. Front-row occupants enjoy additional shoulder and elbow space, while rear passengers benefit from an extra inch of legroom. Behind the second row, there's 25.3 cubic feet of cargo space, expanding to 51.7 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. Inside, the X2 features BMW's curved display and iDrive 9 system as the central control hub. Physical controls are minimized, with a gear selector toggle, Start/Stop button, volume knob, and electronic parking brake.

Comfort and Sustainability

The X2 comes with new seats designed for both sporty driving and long-distance comfort, wrapped in animal-free Veganza materials. Color options for the seats include Black, Mocha, Oyster, and two-tone combinations. The M Sport package pairs Veganza with Alcantara sport seats in black with blue contrast stitching. An optional dark-tinted panoramic roof is available.

Enhanced Suspension and Driving Dynamics

The 2024 X2 retains the spirit of its predecessor's suspension but incorporates redesigned components, such as aluminum hydromounts, adjusted steering axle, and new wheel bearings, to enhance steering feel and agility. The M235i gets an Adaptive M Sport suspension as standard, while the xDrive28i can opt for it.

Availability and Pricing

The 2024 BMW X2 is expected to arrive at U.S. dealerships in March 2024. Pricing details will be disclosed closer to the release date, and further information may emerge at the Tokyo Mobility Show later this month.
