Nissan's Fourth Electric Concept - Hyper Punk
Nissan's series of futuristic electric concept vehicles continues to captivate with the fourth installment, the Hyper Punk. Set to make its public debut at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show, this electric crossover stands out with a striking exterior design, illuminated wheels, and an interior inspired by the art of origami.
A Distinctive Vehicle for a Unique Audience
Much like its predecessors, the Hyper Punk is designed for a very specific target audience. Nissan envisions it will appeal to "content creators, influencers, artists, and those who embrace style and innovation." This crossover is far from subtle, featuring a coupe body style with ample ground clearance and eye-catching triangle-shaped panels that create a textured exterior design.
Distinctive Interior with Origami Inspiration
The interior of the Hyper Punk continues the theme of distinctiveness. Accessed through butterfly doors, the driver sits on a seat upholstered with red fabric and faces a rectangular steering wheel. Three screens are integrated into a single unit and intriguingly display eyes in Nissan's press images. Origami-like trim surrounds the driver's seat, adding a unique touch to the interior.
In contrast, the passenger seat features a gray seat and a more simplistic design.
Innovative Tech Features
The Hyper Punk is not short on innovative tech features. External cameras record the surrounding scenery, and artificial intelligence transforms these images into a manga-style landscape or graphic patterns, letting drivers select their preferred visualization. These AI-generated images can then be projected onto the three screens in the cabin.
Electric Powertrain
While specific powertrain details have not been revealed, Nissan confirmed that the Hyper Punk is an electric vehicle, aligning with the brand's push toward electrification.
Upcoming Debut and Availability in Fortnite
Nissan will showcase the Hyper Punk at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show, beginning on October 23. The Hyper Punk will join Nissan's other concepts: the Hyper Urban, Hyper Tourer, and Hyper Adventure. While production plans for these striking design studies remain uncertain, they will be available for virtual exploration in the popular video game, Fortnite, starting on October 25.
